Volunteer Opportunities at the High School
Class ParentEach grade at the high school has several class parents who act as chairs for a specific group of activities pertinent to that particular grade. It is their job to set the calendar of grade activities at the beginning of the school year, and to act as leaders of the room parents in each grade. Class parents also serve on the principal’s advisory committee, which meets several times during the year to discuss school issues.
Room Parent
Each high school homeroom has two room parents, whose job it is to support the class parents with grade activities during the year. It is their job to find volunteers for specific grade events held during the school year. These might include the dance set-ups or baking for events at the school.
Teacher Appreciation Breakfasts and Luncheon
Help with providing “thank you” breakfast and a luncheon to all the terrific teachers at the high school.
Senior Week Volunteer
Numerous special events occur the last week of school for the High School seniors. Parent volunteers from the junior class are needed for various committees, including prom and decorating for the graduation ceremony.
MLHS Election Day Pasta Dinner
The Pasta Dinner is a Mountain Lakes High School event that the H&SA supports. The H&SA is always looking for volunteers to help prepare and serve the food for this fundraiser run by the MLHS Student Government Association. This is wonderful evening that is enjoyed by the entire community.
MLHS Empty Bowls
This is another wonderful community event that the H&SA assists with. A delightful dinner of soup, salad, beverage and bread is donated by local restaurants and community members. The H&SA helps solicit volunteers to help with the evening. Each year, the money raised is donated to a charity designated by Mountain Lakes High School.
