Fundraising Highlights

Fundraising

The H&SA has three general fundraisers each year where the funds raised are used to pay for our programs and publications, and to support the schools and community with our grants and awards. We also have several fundraisers that target more specific programs. If you would like to help us with fundraising, click here to volunteer now!

General Fundraisers

H&SA Annual Bake Sale

This is a bake sale like no other! Started in 1959 by seventh grade mothers who raised $150 for their library, the bake sale tradition continues and is currently H&SA's largest fundraiser. Workshops are held in the fall to prepare a delicious assortment of foods, delivered to your door. Traditionally, foods are ordered before the first Tuesday of November, but we try to have extras available at the high school on the day of the sale. Fresh baked goods are also available on the day of the big sale.

Winter Soup Sale

Our Winter Soup Sale can really take the chill off a cold February day. This extension of our Bake Sale debuted last year to rave reviews, and is returning this year by popular demand.

Family Portraits

Our latest fundraiser, new in 2007, is our family portraits. A professional photographer will take pictures of your family in a beautiful setting, either inside or outside. You can purchase your pictures in a variety of sizes, perfect for holiday cards or for hanging over the mantle. This week long event is happening in October, when the autumn colors at the lake are spectacular. Click the header for more information or to make an appointment. Act quickly, you won't want to miss this opportunity!

Fundraisers from Prior Years

Reading Night at Barnes & Noble

Scheduled around the holidays, a book reading children's night was held at Barnes & Noble on Route 10. A portion of your purchases that evening was donated to the H&SA. Keep your eye out, this fundraiser may come back next year!
Fundraisers for Specific Programs and Schools

Wildwood Cultural Arts

The Cultural Arts program at Wildwood is funded through the generosity of friends and families during our fall fundraiser. We are bringing back Sally Foster premium wrapping paper and gift items, where Cultural Arts earns 50% of each purchase. New this year is our strong focus on online shopping in addition to our traditional catalog. It's not only fast and convenient, but green too! The Cultural Arts fundraiser pays for two artistically enriching programs or workshops for each grade at Wildwood every year.

Briarcliff Fundraisers

Briarcliff plans three separate fundraisers this year centered around food, since we all still need it! Our first one, starting immediately, will be the Joe Corbi’s Pizza and Family Favorites. This will benefit the Briarcliff Fund for extras the school may need, including Cultural Arts. The next two will benefit all three classes and go toward the 8th Grade Boston trip. This is truly a highlight from the Middle School years but also a costly one. We hope to keep the cost in check. The packets will be coming home, so please keep an eye out. It’s great food for the busy fall evenings. Our third fundraiser will be around the holidays and we will sell David’s Cookies.

Scholarship Fund Drive

The H&SA awards limited grants to graduating seniors of MLHS to assist them in meeting their college expenses. Each spring, we ask the community for donations that will augment the H&SA scholarship fund.

Box Tops, Campbell’s Labels and Target Credit Card for Education

These are easy programs where families and members of the community work together to clip box tops and labels from hundreds of participating brands of food and non-food items. We earn cash for our schools through the everyday activities of buying groceries, shopping online, and making purchases with a credit card. Cut box tops off these items and drop them off in the Wildwood main hall or at the Mountain Lakes Public Library. Visit the Box Tops Web site to learn more about the Box Tops program. At Target, you may designate one of our schools when you open your charge and a small percentage of each of your purchases will go directly to the school.
