Presidents' Page
It’s September again, and we all know that means it’s time to go back to school! Welcome to all the families that are new to Mountain Lakes. I hope you find the Home & School Association (H&SA) a valuable ally in keeping you connected, involved and committed to enriching your family’s experience in this wonderful community.Be connected!
Find out what’s happening in our schools and community. Visit our website at mtnlakeshsa.org, read The Bulletin, and sign up for Virtual Backpack at virtualbackpack.org. We are committed to facilitating communication between our schools, our community and our homes.Be involved!
There are many opportunities to volunteer and share your time and talent. In The Bulletin, you will find volunteer forms for the schools and an abundance of activities and fundraising events to participate in. We are always looking for new ideas and love to see new faces, so, please contact your school chair or any H&SA board member and get involved!Be committed!
We rely on your annual support to fund many programs and publications, including Student Directories and The Bulletin. Think how many times you’ll use The Bulletin this year to check on what is happening in our schools and our community! For membership information, please contact Elaine Boyle, Membership Chair, at mlhsamember@gmail.com. Join today! As always, the fall will be busy for H&SA. Our first H&SA General Program meeting will be on October 13, at 7:30 p.m. at MLHS. At the meeting, we will learn about the Long Range Education Plan which has been under development for the past year.
This fall we will be bringing back two of our favorite fundraisers. The Annual H&SA Bake Sale will begin with pre-orders taken in September and cooking and delivery in October. There are many opportunities to participate in this event (which is my personal favorite!), most of which will just take a few hours of your time. Our second fall fundraiser is Portraits by the Lake. Sitting appointments are limited, and are on a first come first serve basis, so reserve soon. More information on both of these events can be found in this issue of The Bulletin.
I’m looking forward to a very productive year. The 2009-10 H&SA board is a great combination of old and new faces. I know we will come up with fun new ideas for programs, fundraisers and events that will benefit both the schools and the community. I’m looking forward to seeing you at our meetings and fundraisers, and hearing your feedback.
Thank you in advance for supporting the H&SA!
Elena Goldthwaite, President, H&SA
